Maintenance Visits
Every 4-6 Months
Clients of Murph Consulting get put on a maintenance schedule. This maintenance will occur every 4 or 6 months, depending on the client. Maintenance tasks include: installing all security patches, manually checking on backups, running anti-virus and anti-malware scans, updating all software that needs to be, and a list of about 6-7 other items. In general, we are doing this to stop software from popping up and annoying our users, checking on the health and wellness of the computer, and pro-actively looking for future problems that haven’t manifested yet. We do these maintenance tasks remotely at night so as to not disrupt your workday.
These same maintenance tasks can also be run “on demand” if a particular computer isn’t performing as it should.
Virus Scan
- The program has a small footprint, meaning the program itself doesn’t slow the computer down like many other antivirus programs do
- We setup all computers to run a full antivirus scan once a week
- We get weekly reports of any abnormal activity happening on your computers
- We get the emails when the licenses are due to renew and handle the entire renewal process.
- The weekly scans, reports, and annual license are all centrally managed by Murph Consulting. Absolutely nothing to do on your end here except pay for the annual licenses.
Routine Computer Backups
Backups are critically important to everyone. If you’re not backing up, you should be. It’s a conversation we have on day one with a new client. Our clients typically have two backups. A local and cloud-based backup. Local backups are great for a quick restore of a lost or corrupted file. Cloud backups are great for when bigger problems arise. Both are important to all clients. We use programs that email us with any backup issues that arise, even if one file doesn’t back up. We’re then able to remote in and fix whatever problem has arisen.
Operating System Updates
Mac Operating System Updates:
We handle Mac operating system upgrades as part of the routine maintenance or as the need arises.
PC Operating System Updates:
These happen less often and are not part of our routine maintenance. These typically involve purchasing a new license and are only done if need be.
