Our favorite time of the year is here
Ah, the FALL season. Sure it means the end of summer and summer rules, but Fall is a magical time here in New York, and for me, it has absolutely nothing to do with pumpkin-spiced lattes.
For me, the magic is in the block parties every weekend here in Brooklyn, in both of my kids hitting their long-awaited birthdays, and in the outstanding Halloween decorations that start going up in preparation for what is easily one of my favorite nights of the year. My kids will be in an inflatable Dinosaur costume that looks like he’s riding a T-rex, and a fantastic Grim Reaper outfit that is sure to scare my wife and all our neighbors.
If you’re a sports fan, Fall is the gold standard. Football, hockey, and basketball all kick off again, and the baseball playoffs are here to get our heart rates up. As a lifelong Mets fan, I expect to be let down any moment (in an increasingly embarrassing way), and then I can turn my full attention to the Islanders, so they can disappoint me next.
If you’re a parent, school has started. Take a deep breath. You made it. Crazy summer schedules, 6 different camps, daily skinned knees, and the seemingly endless void of time between when camps stop and school starts, are all over. You did it. You should be proud. You have successfully passed the baton to your kids’ teachers who are hopefully amazing, and definitely underpaid.
All of this happens while the weather is perfect. Not too hot or cold, and ideal for hiking, backyard campfires, and just being outside in general.
October is also Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Honestly, we talk about cybersecurity all year because it’s that important, but anything that brings people’s attention to the topic is fantastic. It’s like Valentine’s Day. You love your partner, and Valentine’s Day is an excuse to tell them. Similarly, let October be the reason you get serious about your security now.
Cybersecurity conversations are the new “backups” conversations. In the past, we’d tell our clients “You need to have a proper backup in place”. Some clients listened, and those backups saved their valuable data countless times. Many clients ignored this conversation in an attempt to save money and ended up losing data. THEN they came back to us saying “We need a proper backup now!” On the one hand, great, let’s get that failsafe in place! On the other hand, we really wish you didn’t have to learn the importance of backups the hard way.
In 2024, this happens with cybersecurity conversations. Some clients put things in place and stay protected. Others don’t. Unfortunately, sometimes things happen to those without protections in place and THEN they come back to us saying “We’re ready for this now”.
We don’t want you to fall into that last category. Get your cybersecurity in place now before anything goes wrong.
No idea where to start when it comes to cybersecurity? Hit me up, that’s why we’re here.
