LastPass Data Breach
LastPass Data Breach
We would like to bring your attention to the recent LastPass data breach, which has left many of its users concerned about the security of their personal information. LastPass, a popular password manager, announced in December 2022 that it had experienced a data breach in late August 2022, which resulted in unauthorized access to some of its users’ email addresses, password reminders, and other data.
Data breaches like this are unfortunately all too common in today’s digital age. Even large, well-established companies like LastPass can be vulnerable to these kinds of attacks. It is essential to remember that there is no such thing as 100% security when it comes to online data protection. Therefore, it’s important to use a trusted and secure password manager to minimize the risk of such incidents.
At Murph Consulting, we take data security very seriously, and frankly we didn’t like the way LastPass handled this data breach and how they shared information about it. As a result, we have made the decision to find another password manager solution for ourselves and our clients. We understand that trust is essential in any business relationship, and we are committed to maintaining that trust by ensuring the highest levels of security for our clients’ data.
After thorough research and analysis, we are excited to announce our new partnerships with Dashlane and 1Password. These password managers are highly trusted and recognized in the industry for their security, ease of use, and reliable support.
Dashlane and 1Password offer robust security features, including two-factor authentication, automatic password generation, and encrypted password storage, among others. They also have user-friendly interfaces, making it easy for users to manage their passwords and personal data.
We understand that switching to a new password manager can be a daunting task. However, we are here to help. We have extensive experience with both Dashlane and 1Password, and we can assist you in getting set up and ensuring a smooth transition. We can also provide ongoing support to ensure that you continue to have a secure and hassle-free experience with your new password manager.
We are confident that Dashlane and 1Password are excellent solutions for our clients’ password management needs, and we are excited to offer these options to those interested in enhancing their data security.
Data breaches can happen to anyone, even the most prominent names in the industry. Therefore, it’s essential to take proactive measures to protect your online data. Choosing a reliable and secure password manager is a crucial step in achieving this goal.
Thank you for your attention, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your data security, and please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like assistance in getting started with Dashlane or 1Password.

This month, Murph Consulting turned 18. I cranked up Alice Cooper's "I'm 18" and Skid Row's "18 and Life" to get the vibes going. My company is now old enough to vote, get a tattoo, and get married, all without parental consent. Watch out, world!
In all seriousness, the passing of another year of entrepreneurship and running a successful business always feels like a good time to reflect. Since we started in 2007, we've assisted nearly 600 small businesses and residential clients. Businesses in every industry, ranging in size from the solopreneur to 100 employees. There’s no company we’ll say “you’re too small for us to help”, and that gives me great joy. Small businesses need tech and CyberSecurity support, and we’ve got their backs.
Speaking of, it's October again, and you all know what that means, right? The Mets have failed us, and the Islanders, Jets, and Rangers are about to. It's also Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Every small business should be implementing some basic security measures by now. It's easier and more affordable than you think it is, and definitely cheaper than dealing with the fallout of something drastically bad happening to your business.
How's your password game? Do you use strong passwords on all the sites you visit, or are they all slight modifications of one word, like your kids or pets' names or birth dates?
If it's the latter, let's chat. You should be using a password manager. They are easy to use, create complex passwords for you that you no longer need to remember, and keep them all safe for you. I can't remember the last time I had to click on the "forgot your password" link for any site, and I love that for me.
A password manager is just one of the seven software we feel EVERY small business should have in place to help keep them protected in 2025. We’ve packaged these up together neatly and made them affordable for the small businesses we will always support.
